    For Arlen, Always

I’m Rachel, and I am Arlen’s friend from high school. When we met, he was in our school’s production of A Comedy of Errors. I wasn’t really… Read more “For Arlen, Always”

Day 30: Seven Letters to My Tears by Rachel Stuck

I find everything I need in the pretty ways humans say things.

Day 28: Excavation at the Santa Barbara Mission by Wendy Rose

It encompasses the intensely private sense of identity as well as the immensity of cultural assimilation and genocide.

Day 27: Lady Lazarus by Sylvia Plath

Like Plath, I’ve made some terrible relationship decisions (though none so bad as marrying Ted Hughes).

Day 26: Marginalia by Billy Collins

Part of what’s appealing to me about this poem is probably plain old narcissism.

Day 25: The Invitation by Oriah Mountain Dreamer

He, aware of my circumstances, smiled in that way, in that specific way that says “This is a smile that meets your sadness.”

Rachel and Tiffany in Verona, Italy.

    Some words

Rachel Stuck and Tiffany Mericle met at Linfield College in 1997. Photo evidence suggests that neither one of them wore very flattering pants.

They are each also writing individual novels for adults.

In addition to writing novels, Tiffany is a visual and recording artist. Her work can be viewed here: tiffmericle.wixsite.com/website

Rachel works as a middle school teacher. She has been hailed as pretty cool for her age.

Housemates once again, Rachel and Tiffany live in Austin, Texas with Tiffany's husband, Josh, plus four dogs and one cat.
